Re: Klingon WOTD: tay (n)

: Klingon word: tay
: Part of Speech: noun
: Definition: ceremony, rite, ritual

Never used in canon per se.

{tay} is an element in many other nouns: e.g. {chontay} "ritual hunt",
{Heghtay} "Death Ritual", {muvtay} "initiation", {nentay} "Rite of Ascension",
{ruStay} "R'uustai" (Bonding Ritual), {qutluch tay} "Kut'luch Ceremony",
{tayqeq} "civilization".

Note the homophonous verb {tay} "be civilized" and {taymoH} "civilize". Cf.
also {SeQ} "be formal, ritualistic, ceremonial" and {Hach} "be developed (e.g.
a civilization)".
