Project Klingon Poe update

As mentioned before, there is a website for Project Klingon Poe. The
address is:
http://www.ling.uni-potsdam.de/~berger/klingon/
There, you can find information about the project and a list of the Edgar
Allan Poe stories that are already being translated. It also has other
stories that you may want to choose from, sorted by story length.

Some questions have been asked about the translations:

- What is the time table for the translations?
- There isn't a set "due date" per se. However, if you signed up two weeks
ago to translate, and I don't hear from you for a couple months, then I'm
going to start checking to see how you're doing. :-D
Alternatively, if you finish your translation quickly, I can start to
proofread it and check for any grammar problems etc.; then you could
translate a second Poe story, if you want.

- How should I translate the story?
- You should try to make your translation as close to the original meaning
as you can. This includes using the same style and amount of detail as Poe
has used.
If the story uses a word/phrase/idea that doesn't have a direct Klingon
equivalent, try your best to express the idea using tlhIngan Hol. These are
translations, and so you should try to tell the same story in a different
language. As such, don't change the setting to the 24th century. If the
people in the story drink something alcoholic, you might describe the drink
as {HIq qIj} ("black ale"). However, you wouldn't want to call the drink
{romuluS HIq} ("Romulan ale") since there aren't any Romulans in Poe's stories.
You may also include footnotes, for when you make adaptations that aren't
obvious.

- What stories are still available to be translated?
- You can check the website mentioned above, to see which stories have
already been chosen.
Currently, the list on the site is a little out of date. People are
translating the following stories so far:
The Murders In The Rue Morgue
The Black Cat
The Tell-Tale Heart
The Cask of Amontillado
Silence -- A fable
The Facts In The Case Of M. Valdemar
The Masque of the Red Death
Fall of the House of Usher
The Pit and the Pendulum

If you want to request a story to translate, send an email to [email protected]
If you have any other questions or suggestions about the project, you can
ask them on the tlhIngan-Hol mailing list here. Other translators may have
the same questions, or may have ideas for you. (You might want to include
"Klingon Poe" in the subject line, to get the attention of other people
translating for Project Klingon Poe.)
