in "Klingon for the Galactic Traveler" Marc Okrand explains
(pp 138f) that "some younger speakers tend to pronounce doubled
consonants as if they were single". Older Klingons will either
pronounce each consonant separately, or pronounce a "long"
consonant (cf. e.g. Finnish or Hungarian). "most likely to be
reduced are {pp}, {tt}, and...{''}; least likely to be reduced are
{ll}, {mm}, {nn}, {ngng}, {vv}, {ww}, and {yy}."
