The context in which the "millenium" is most commonly discussed is in the
computer arena... i.e. in terms of the Y2K problem. So while it is more
technically accurate to say the millenium does not start until next year, it
is being more than a little obtuse to obsess about this when the actual
intentions of the person making the statement are known and understood.
