Klingon on the Sci-Fi Channel

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a producer at the Sci-Fi Channel. As
many of you know, they've been showing the original three years of STAR
TREK in the original uncut version, complete with special interviews of
actors and others involved with the show.
On November 30th, they'll be airing the third of the main Klingon episodes
of the original series, "Day of the Dove" featuring Michael Ansara and our
first glimpse of a Klingon female. The producer wanted to do something
special for this episode. He wanted something in Klingon. Given budget
constraints (i.e., they didn't want to pay for anything) he decided on a
short series of clips featuring several scenes with Klingons and interview
soundbites about Klingons. He provided me with a script and I in turn
farmed it out to a number of KLI members to kick around and achieve a
concensus for translation.
Yesterday the illustrious Captain Krankor and I arrived at the Sci-Fi
Channel studios and recorded the translations over the original actors. It
was a tiring and at the same time exhilirating experience. The finished
product was hilarious and very entertaining, and will surely generate some
good publicity for the KLI.
If you're in the USA you should be able to see it when the episode airs
next Monday, November 30th.
My sincere thanks to the folks who provided round after round of feedback
to help with the translations, and especially to Krankor for joining me in
the recording. He did a great job as Kang and Kor and even as Leonard
Nimoy. My own renderings of Shatner and Kirk are much weaker by comparison,
but I'm proud of the scene I did from "The Trouble With Tribbles." But you
be the judge. Watch the show next Monday, and let me know what you think.
