Once he has taken off the {-Daq}, {vutpa'} will be the direct object of the
verb: {vutpa' vIghoS}.  Compare with {yuQ wIghoStaH} in TKD.

You're quite right, though: if he were to leave the {-Daq} on, then he would
be grammatically correct, although somewhat redundant, according to TKD, to
say {vutpa'Daq jIghoS}.  {vutpa'Daq vIghoS} could mean "I approach
him/her/it in the kitchen."

And, for anyone who thought this was in danger of being logical, note
{bIghHa'Daq yIghoS} in TKD appendix. Perhaps {bIghHa' yIghoS} means "go to
the jail" without the connotation of reporting for incarceration that "go to
jail" has.  Or maybe it's just a Klingon idiom.
