KLBC Story: may'DujDaq wIyya

KLBC story: wIyya on the Battlecruiser

Recap: At the end of the last story, Bemorian Councilmember wIyya
had, in accordance with the traditions of her people, given herself
over to the Klingon conquerors in order that her young child tIllan
be raised in the language. She was made to sit down on the floor of
the council chambers and her child taken from her arms and laid
beside her. She panics as the child, and the whole room, begins to
glow. wIyya is not familiar with particle transporters and she does
not know that she is being beamed on board a Klingon battlecruiser.
The Klingons who receive her are resentful of the shipboard duty that
keeps them from joining in the looting on Bemor. Note that their
commands to wIyya are in Hol poD.

Translation:
For some reason I feel like seeing if I can make this sound ok in
English. It's sort of fun to try to find the irregular English
equivalents to the systematic Klingon words. It sounds horribly
stilted though, because the words in the original that were at the
end of a sentence end up at the beginning in transation, so the flow
is lost. At least I like to pretend that the Klingon flows. :)

Tillan and the room continued to glow. Everything was very
bright. There seemed to be something wrong with Wiyya's eyes. When
she screamed, her lungs seemed to have solidified. Her whole body
had solidified. She couldn't reach Tillan. As the event progressed,
the light around her subsided. The room became dark. Very dark.
Wiyya could move again.

Beside her, the baby was starting to cry. She knelt to take
care of it. wIyya took up the baby and started whispering "I'll
protect you. I'll protect you. Your mother will protect you." The
baby quieted.

Suddenly, a woman's voice laughed. Because of the brightness of the
transporter beam and the darkness of the room, wIyya hadn't observed
anything until the woman laughed. As her eyes adjusted,
wIyya examined the surrounding area. It was not the same room. Only
two small glowing things reddened this room. She saw strange control
panels and equipment she couldn't identify. There was something
wIyya *did* recognize, too. The aliens had clearly stolen the
ancient ceremonial throne of the Emperor. Two Klingon warriors
were nearby: a man and a woman. The woman seemed to think wIyya
amusing. "We're not out looting because of that mouse? *She*'s an
inferior prize."

The warriors were bringing phaser rifles to bear on wIyya. "Get off"
said the man, his finger showing the floor. wIyya examined the area
underneath her. She was kneeling on a low device. Following the
guard's finger she got off the device and carefully stood on the
floor. "Watch!" said the Klingon woman. She spun and activated her
phaser. Out of the phaser rifle, a beam struck the Bemorian throne.
It glowed brightly. It completely dissolved. The throne was gone.
The woman lookd back at wIyya. "Understood?" She resumed laughing.
She put the phaser on the floor and approached wIyya.

While the man watched, the woman examined wiyya. She raised wiyya's
loose hair. "What does a coward need with long hair?" she said.
"It's not necessary." The woman forcefully gathered wIyya's hair
together and twirled the resulting "ponytail." She yanked it.
Suddenly she pulled a knife and trimmed wIyya's hair right down. She
threw away the "ponytail." wIyya cried out a little as her hair
fell. The woman seemed to become angry. "Don't be noisy, shrimp."
She hit wiyya in the face with her fist. wiyya knelt and begged in
Bemorian, "Please most honoured alien be so good as to not harm me.
I am fully willing to cooperate, your grace." The Klingon woman
wheezed, laughing. She kicked wIyya to a lying position on the
floor and took away the baby. She laid the baby on the floor and
quickly examined mother and child, while they screamed. She looked
for both carried weapons and bodily weapons. Were the alien's teeth
toxic? It's nails sharp? Does it have hard scales? The soldier
found the baby to be utterly helpless, and the mother useless, too.
She said to the man, "I'm not going to break the arms."
He disagreed. "Break them. We always break prisoners' arms."
The woman answered, "No, I won't break them. She's a complete
weakling and she needs to look after the child. We're cowards if we
have to break this weakling's bones."

Tillan went on crying. The Klingon woman took the baby and kicked
wiyya again. "Walk." Because the woman had her child, wiyya stood
up and she followed when the woman went to leave. The man holding
the phaser rifle followed her. They went out of the room and into a
sort of tunnel. wiyya saw metal everywhere. It was dirty and
rusting. The woman stopped in front of a hatch. wiyya watched
Tillan. The vicious Klingon appeared to know how to hold a baby. It
had stopped crying. She held the baby against her chest with one arm
as she opened the hatch. The Klingon woman said "In" and revealed
the opening. Tillan was starting to play. His tiny hands
touched the shiny clothing. Wiyya did not move. "In!" said the woman
again. She pushed down on wIyya's head to make her go through. The
man put wIyya's hands behind her back and propelled her into the
cage.

When they had closed the door it was completely dark in the cage.
Wiyya was totally alone. Her empire had been conquered by
uncivilized aliens, a vicious woman was in the process of stealing
her baby, and wiyya herself was confined in a cell. She began to sob.
