When to say, or not to say, <nuqneH>

> From: "Robin Day" <[email protected]>

> As I understand it, nuqneH is definitely The Only greeting in
> Klingon, as per Conversational Klingon. It is also used as such in
> the KLI's Hamlet, for example . Act I, Scene II where Horey'So arrives to see
> Hamlet and greets him with the phrase <nuqneH, joH quv!> "Hail to your
> lordship" in Terran Hamlet. The KD lists it as a greeting as well.

It is not noted down in TKD as such, but the term "nuqneH" is
generally spoken by the one _being approached by a Klingon._ It
assumes purposefulness in the action of the Klingon; if the one is
approaching you, then it means that something is needed which you may
be able to provide.

Likewise, if you're approaching a Klingon, expect the Klingon to say
<nuqneH> to you, but do not say it back. What would be the point?
