It says something more significant: it says that you're my friend. Not all
sentient beings necessarily are my friends; a Klingon likely wouldn't say
that to just ANYone. It's still not so hot as a greeting. If you're my
friend and you know it (as is likely), this is simply a vocative: you're
trying to get my attention by calling my name (and a title as well). I'd
look up, if so addressed, and say "Yes? nuqneH?" If you're not my
friend... well, I wouldn't say it. If you're my friend and didn't know it
(which can happen), the statement would be rather too significant to toss
off as a vocative.
