KLI and Paramount

If, as I suspect, this list is going offline later today then this will be my
last post until after I return from the qep'a' cha'DIch and Jay has linked us
back up.

So I'll leave you all with some good news. I know that a few issues ago in
HolQeD I told you that Paramount had agreed to grant the KLI a license so we
could go blithely about our business and not be squashed by corporate giants.
Well, what they actually agreed to back then was the "spirit" of such an
agreement, an agreement to pursue a mutually beneficial license.

I just got off the phone with the Paramount lawyer who has been handling all of
this for us and I am more than delighted to tell you that after nine long months
of negotiations the powers that be at Paramount have signed the license.

This puts us now, officially, in the Paramount camp. Theoretically it should
open doors for us and more directly involve us in things Klingon. We'll just
have to wait and see (and maybe try to open some of those doors!).

I'll see you in a few weeks,

Lawrence
