Both Holtej and peHruS have rendered {nuq targh} as "what
targ". The problem is that in Klingon, the only justification
we have at this time for placing one noun next to another is a
possessive construction. It is not "what targ". It is "what's
targ". THAT is the root of my problem with this construction.
The word order doesn't provide any help. None of the following
is really useful:
the what's targ
the targ's what
the targ of what
the what of targ
See? You can't strip away the "of" or the "-'s" just because
you want to. It would be convenient, and maybe Okrand will like
it and say that this can be an exception to the rules, but at
present none of the rules allow this construction. Period.
