\ WAAAAAAIT A MINUTE!
\
\ I don't want to discourage anyone "being careful" (YES, BE CAREFUL;
\ BACKUP SOFTWARE, RUN VIRUS CHECKERS, KNOW WHERE SOFTWARE COMES FROM
\ AND *DON'T* PIRATE ), but REALLY! While I can imagine how a virus
\ could be distributed within email *HOW* on earth (okay, Qo'noS) is
\ this warning plausible. Is it a Unix Virus? (which Unix?) Dos?
\ Amiga? Mac?
\
\ This smells like an urban legend of sorts....
True. However, the version I heard was that it was specifically a DOS
virus, and being distributed via AOL. So if you use the AOL mail reader
(which has the capabilty to download a new version of the AOL software,
by the way), then I can see a virus like this working. In that specific case.
On the UNIX side, if you have a MIME mailreader and it's not configured
carefully, there are ways of doing something similar. In theory.
In reality, I find it a bit unlikely.
