Hi Guys
My best friend, a lifelong STAR TREK fan – as I, died a few days ago, the funeral will be on Friday. As I know that he would havel liked it, I have prepared a variation of the Klingon flag, for which I used my Klingon dictionary and of course the internet to prepare. In order to verify my result, please be so kind as to check and – if necessary – correct it. A donation via paypal would not be a problem, I just want to give him a proper send-off.
Of course, a proper funeral in my eyes would be similar to the ending of The Wrath of Khan, however, the timeframe of just a few days is not enough to build a Constitution Class starship and travel into deep space.
On the poster, I want to say the following:
Honor – batlh
Valor – toDuj
strengh of character – vaj Duj
We will meet again in Sto-Vo-Kor, my friend –
Suto’vo‘qorDaq maghom
The memory of you sings in my blood –
bomDI’ ‘IwwIj qaqaw
Is it correct as it is?
Qapla’!
Theo
P.S.: please see changes I have made below this post.

There are many spelling errors. Rather than point them out individually, I’ll rewrite everything correctly here.
SUTO’VO’KORDAK MAGOMCUKKA’ JUPWI’
BOMDI’ ‘IWWIJ KAKAW
BAX DAKAWLU’TAH
REH HEG YOHWI’PU”E’
‘AC HEGLU’MEH QAQ JAJVAM
First off, I’m very sorry for your loss. I would be honored if someone did something similar for me (as a lifelong fan as well) so I have no doubt that your friend’s memory is being honored well.
I’m not an expert (yet… working on it!). However, I have the following notes:
strengh of character – vaj Duj
This is a little strange to me… there is a canon source that lists this as “warrior instincts” (KGT) but I don’t necessarily think that is what you want to convey.
If that is, then that’s quite alright! However, I might want to suggest:
yoHwI’ – Brave one/The brave
We will meet again in Sto-Vo-Kor, my friend:
Suto’vo‘qorDaq maghom
I think it looks better like this:
Suto’vo’qorDaq maghomchuqqa’, jupwI’ (In Sto-Vo-Kor we will meet each other again, my friend)
Only other note I have is that the qaghwI’ (‘) is that when you copy and paste the online ones they sometimes are mapped as accent characters… However, If you intend to use pIqaD and are aware of that distinction, that shouldn’t be an issue.
I hope this helps, and if anyone else wants to correct me, please do so! I feel like this is exceedingly important and I don’t want to get this wrong either!
Qapla’!

Hi flyboytopher
thank you for your comments! I certainly will use your correction on the Sto-Vo-Kor sentence. Well, he was my best friend for the past 20 years, my only friend, to be exact. I do have other friends, yes – but he was like a brother to me and my best man.
In the meantime I have, however, altered the text a bit. Instead of just putting adverbs there, I have replaced them with complete sentences. So, now it looks like this:
GUTO’VO’KORDAK AGOMCUKKA’ JUPWX’
Suto’vo’qorDaq maghomchuqqa’, jupwI’
I will see you in Sto-Vo-Kor, my friend (thanks again 😉 )
BOMDI’ ‘IwwIJ QAQAW
bomDI’ ‘IwwIj qaqaw
The memory of you sings in my blood
BAX DAQAWLU’TAH
bath Daquawlu’taH
You will be remembered with honour
REH HEG YPHWI’PU”E’ ‘AC HEGLU’MEH QAQ JAJVAM
reH Hegh yoHwl’pu‘‘e‘ ‘ach Heghlu’meH QaQ jajvam
It is always the brave who die but today is a good day to die
I have also updated the image above. Do you see any mistakes?
Hi flyboytopher
first of all, thank you for your comments. Well, you see, he was not only a good friend for the past 20 years, he was my best friend. He was like a brother to me and my best man. I do have other friends, yes – but this friendship was something very special. Like Kirk and Spock. I feel like I have lost a part of my soul.
In the meantime I have altered the text. I have replaced the adjectives with whole sentences and I have adopted you suggestion for the Sto-vo-kor reference, so now it looks like this:
GUTO’VO’KORDAK AGOMCUKKA’ JUPWX’
Suto’vo’qorDaq maghomchuqqa’, jupwI’
I will see you in Sto-Vo-Kor, my friend
BOMDI’ ‘IwwIJ QAQAW
bomDI’ ‘IwwIj qaqaw
The memory of you sings in my blood
BAX DAQAWLU’TAH
bath Daquawlu’taH
You will be remembered with honour
REH HEG YPHWI’PU”E’ ‘AC HEGLU’MEH QAQ JAJVAM
reH Hegh yoHwl’pu‘‘e‘ ‘ach Heghlu’meH QaQ jajvam
It is always the brave who die but today is a good day to die
