I am an intellectual property attorney who recently gained an interest in the Klingon language due to an article I read online:

I think the question of whether a created language can be copyrighted is a great one! (Personally, I don’t think it can because of the functional nature of a language.)
I’ve only been studying for about a month, mainly by listening to “Conversational Klingon,” on my iPod.
At this point I have a couple of questions. For one, what would you say to someone who you approach in order to get their attention and start a conversation? nuqneH seems like something you’d say to someone who approaches you.
Second, what is the correct pronunciation for “tlhIngan Hol?”
I know Ill have more questions, but I thought I’d start with these two.
Many people say the person’s name or just start talking about whatever they want to talk about. There’s no specific word used to get someone’s attention.
You can go to http://hol.kag.org/sentence/tlhIngan+Hol to hear the words spoken.

Don’t be a coward. Just speak!
Thanks!
