The Klingon Language Institute Forums General Questions I don't know which dictionary is the correct one

  • I don't know which dictionary is the correct one

I started the course and it said that I needed the dictionary second edition, but the page I found it doesn’t say what edition is.

For reference, the one I found is one with a red cover that says ” Star Trek, the official guide to klingon words and phrases by marc okrand”

I’d really appreciate it if someone could help me with this

There are currently two versions of the “Second Edition” of The Klingon Dictionary. The older, original 2nd Edition, had a white cover, while the new version has a red cover. The content of both is the same though and you can use either. You can get a copy from here.

The first edition is a smaller book, with a bird of prey on the cover. It lacks the addendum with additional grammar and words. We don’t recommend it.

The second edition has a few errors in it and several words are listed in only one side of the dictionary part (they are in the Klingon-to-English side by not the English-to-Klingon side and vice versa).
