I danced with a second German lady yesterday evening. She confirmed that there is no English language equivalent. It seems that the "sensation" is one of "time to celebrate" after work is over. I do suggest that we ask Lieven Litaer.
Yes, that's a pretty good description. The "original" meaning of Feierabend is the evening before a holiday and it retained that connotation of something to celebrate (that's also what "feiern" means). However, I don't see why Klingon should have an equivalent either…
I agree. This sounds like the emotion kids get as you get closer to Christmas. Maybe "giddy with excitement". Something like this could be easily be described with something like Qu' wIta'! DaH maQuch 'ej malop! – We have completed the mission. Now we are happy and we will celebrate!
