I confess my shortcoming here.]</div><div><br class=""></div><div>And when you have restored your system from an earlier backup in order to go back to an earlier OS version or go back to before a malware infection, or go back for whatever reason you needed to go back, you can then go back into Time Machine and recover newer data files so you don’t lose your work. I’ve done this.</div><div><br class=""></div><div>I’ve also used it to restore a couple thousand email messages from an IMAP email service on the Mail client machine without having to talk to the server people to get a backup, which is better than dealing with them because I could browse hourly backups in Time Machine and pick the backup with the least messages lost, while the server people only back up the mail about once every three days, and you can’t browse their results until after the restore, and the interface for this in Time Machine is simple because you do it in the Mail program, having launched Time Machine from within it.</div><div><br class=""></div><div>Windows has nothing close to Time Machine. I wish it did. I would celebrate the existence of Time Machine’s equivalent in Windows. It would simplify my life. People whose expertise is in Windows massively misunderstand the capability of Time Machine. They compare remarkably limited pseudo-equivalents to it favorably, speaking from great ignorance.</div><div><br class=""></div><div>Time Machine is the best thing to happen to computers since the development of the hard drive. That so many people don’t use it is the most glaring example of folly in the history of the use of computers. And OS X has had it since OS X 10.5 (Leopard), October of 2007.</div><div><br class=""></div><div>I thought that the journaling of the file system was the reason Windows didn’t have it, but that’s clearly wrong. I’m not sure why Windows has not developed an equivalent. There must be some reason Microsoft has sat back for seven years without copying the functionality.</div><br class=""><blockquote type="cite" class=""><div class=""><blockquote type="cite" class="">*Backup drive* Daghajchugh, rarDI’, &lt;&lt;“as a backup drive” Dalo’<br class="">DaneH’a’?&gt;&gt; jatlh *Apple” De’wI’.<br class=""></blockquote><br class="">rap Qorwaghmey.<br class=""></div></blockquote><div><br class=""></div><div>qatlh not muja’pu’?</div><div><br class=""></div><div>DaH vIQul…</div><div><br class=""></div><div>ghobe’:</div><div><br class=""></div><div><a href="http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/backup-and-restore"; class="">http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/backup-and-restore</a></div><div><br class=""></div><div>"<span style="color: rgb(80, 80, 80); font-family: WOL_Reg, 'Segoe UI', Tahoma, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;" class="">Let Windows choose what to back up, or pick individual folders,&nbsp;</span><a href="http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/libraries"; class="navigationLink" data-id="pageContainer3_ID0ECC" style="text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; font-family: WOL_SB, 'Segoe UI Semibold', 'Segoe UI', Tahoma, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: 600; color: rgb(92, 45, 145); font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;">libraries</a><span style="color: rgb(80, 80, 80); font-family: WOL_Reg, 'Segoe UI', Tahoma, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;" class="">, and drives yourself.</span><font color="#505050" face="WOL_Reg, Segoe UI, Tahoma, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" class=""><span style="line-height: 20px;" class="">”</span></font></div><div><br class=""></div><div>reH Hoch’e’ *backup* poH jo’.</div><br class=""><blockquote type="cite" class=""><div class=""><blockquote type="cite" class=""><blockquote type="cite" class="">wa' malja' De'wI'Daq Qapmo' MacOS.<br class=""></blockquote><br class="">qatlh qay’ wanI'vam?<br class=""></blockquote><br class="">jIQIjpu'.
