Re: [Tlhingan-hol] Still untitled beginner story: parts 5 & 6 with translation

That supports Qe' vISov. "I have knowledge of a restaurant." Only reason it's weird to say is that it's in walking distance of the guy's own home, but maybe he doesn't go out much.

FWIW, here's the (non-Okrandian?) definition for {Sov} supplied on startrek.com's "Star Trek: Continuum Klingon Compendium ("Klingon Linguistic Studies"):

Verb, to have knowledge of, or be familiar with. (KLS)

Are these examples helpful?:

  jIHtaHbogh naDev vISovbe'
  I'm lost. TKD

  DaqwIj vISovbe'
I am lost ("I do not know my location.") PK

  Daq Sovbejbe'taH qIrq
Kirk cannot know the location [of the peace conference].
  DaSovbej'a'?
Are you sure [of that]? ST6

See also {jIv} "be ignorant"; no examples AFAIK. {ghov} "recognize" (v) might do for be familiar with [a place], but we have only two examples:

  qamlIj vIghov
  I recognize your foot. KGT

  qablIj vIghov
  I recognize your face. KGT
