Even a button hole is not necessary for the definition of a shirt</font></tt></pre><pre style="font-size: 9pt;"><tt><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">But the "holes" in a shirt for the arms and neck are necessary for the item to function as a shirt, and so might use a different word.
