This is a rare two-syllable verb. Note however the noun {bo'DIj} "court [of law]".

Formal Starfleet courts martial at a starbase were prominently featured in TOS "Court Martial" and TNG "Measure of a Man"; shipboard courts martial were seen in TOS "The Menagerie, Pt. I-II" and TOS "Turnabout Intruder".

Archer's trial on Narendra III(?) in 2152 for conspiring against the Klingon Empire and fomenting revolt was presided over by a magistrate. Inter alia, he was accused of having said "Death to the Empire!" (ENT "Judgment") During their trial for assassinating Chancellor Gorkon, Kirk and McCoy were defended by noted advocate Colonel Worf.
