[Tlhingan-hol] Star Trek: Axanar - Help needed with Klingon terms!

Peter Walker ([email protected])

Hi,
Star Trek: Axanar is a new independent Stat Trek series and a sister
production of Star Trek: Phase II.

Our subtitling team is currently creating subtitles for the new 21 minute
"Prelude to Axenar" film and there are some terms spoken in Klingon which we
would like to include in the subtitles (using Latin characters).

The terms are translated into English after they are spoken, but we would
like to write the terms in the original Klingon.

You can see the episode here:
http://www.startrekaxanar.eu

Then scroll down a little to "WATCH THE SHORT FILM "PRELUDE TO AXANAR" BY
CLICKING BELOW!"

Here are the subtitles we prepared so far for those Klingon terms:

00:04:36,257 --> 00:04:43,007
They were using a strategy known to
the Klingon people as [Klingon words]

00:04:51,271 --> 00:04:58,138
Which loosely, roughly translates as
"The strategy of least respect."

---

00:06:09,245 --> 00:06:13,447
They had a word, [Klingon expression].

00:06:14,260 --> 00:06:15,961
It means, "The Devourer!"

---

So it would be great if you Klingon experts can help us out with this.

Thanks.

Regards

  SanDaj buS vaj 'It
  The depressed warrior concentrates on his fate (PB)

I imagine that the general Klingon (non-clinical) attitude towards
depression would be similar to sadness:

  bI'IQchugh yIvang
  If you are sad, act! (TKW)

Similar verbs:

'IQ 		be sad (v)
QuchHa' 	be unhappy (v)
belHa' 	be displeased (v)

bel 		be pleased (v)
Quch		be happy (v)
yon 		be satisfied (v)
tIv 		enjoy (v)
