Re: [Tlhingan-hol] Klingon Word of the Day: SoD
I doubt Marc Okrand wrote the Klingon for "The Way of the Warrior", considering it contains such sentences as
Louk, a jeek CHIM-ta law.
"Yeah, but I'm a lot better-looking than he was."
loD SoSlI' chaw'qu' SoH jatlh?
"Does your mother let you talk to men?)
A TLING-on kaogh.
"They fight like Klingons!"
Zo a tlhIngan HeghlaH! yoDwI' Qaw'! tIgh mang rup!
"Then they can die like Klingons! Destroy their shields! Prepare boarding parties!"
Ach Gowron, yay chol...
"But Gowron, victory is near."

I'd forgotten about this song, sometimes called {HumtaH 'ej DechtaH 'Iw} in fandom (cf. http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Klingon_drinking_songs ) I don't know if Okrand supplied the Klingon to the writers (who seem to have mangled it a bit), but he refers to it in KGT:
KGT 123: {Doq bIQtIq bIQ} ("The river water is red"). The phrase can be traced back to an old drinking song [{HIvje' bom}] that commemorates the slaying of the tyrant Molor by Kahless. On that day, according to the song, the River Skral ran red; that is, it was filled with the blood of Molor."
