Klingon WOTD: chab (noun)

speersd ([email protected])

This is the Klingon Word Of The Day for Saturday, March 11, 2006.

Category: General

Klingon word: chab
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: invention, innovation (slang)
Source: KGT (212 KE, 246 EK, 247 EK)
Swedish: uppfinning, innovation (slang)

Additional Notes:
KGT p. 21: The distinctive pronunciations of the Krotmag dialect are surely responsible for some slang and idiomatic usages in Klingon in general. For example, a {chab chu'} (literally, "new pie") is another way to say "new invention" or "latest innovation." This is no doubt because the Krotmag pronunciation of {chab} ("pie") is {cham}, the same as the word for "technology."

Homonyms:
chab (noun) - pie, tart, dumpling
