You're close. The bow is at the fore of the ship, and the stern is at the
aft. "Fore" refers to the area toward the bow (the front of the ship), and
"aft" refers to the area toward the stern.
(They can also refer to something not on the ship, but close to it: "The
enemy is fore of the ship", meaning "The enemy is in front of the ship.")

"Bow" and "stern" refer to the actual bits of the ship.
