The lack of a general word for time has long been a problem.

Nope. The verb has never been used.

The noun {poH} actually means a "period of time" not, as far as we know,
"time" in the abstract as in "space-time continuum", "time line" or
"temporal anomaly". It shows up in {DIS poH} (also {DISpoH}) "period of
years" (e.g. {vatlh DIS poH} "century"), {HovpoH} "stardate", {leSpoH}
"shore leave", {nIbpoH} *nIb'poH* (i.e. "deja vu") and {puq poH} "generation".
