Story: the man who slew his greyhound.

Many years ago a Prince lived in Gwynedd who was called Llewellyn.
Llewellyn was a famous hunter. He had a hunting dog who was called Gelert.
Gelert was brave and skilful. Quarry could not escape him and he did not
fear the most fierce and strong beast.

Prince Llewellyn went to the woods on a hunting expedition. With him went
his wife, his little son and his servants. They meant to hunt for three
days. They hunted in the day and at night they enjoyed a feast.

While they were drinking, Llewellyn commanded Gelert to guard the baby. The
baby slept in a tent. Suddenly everyone heard noises. The sounds resembled
an animal fighting. They all ran to the tent. There they saw that blood
covered Gelert's mouth, teeth and fur. They could not see the baby, but his
bed was upside down, and blood was visible on it. Immediately, because he
was enraged and sorrowful, Llewellyn slew the greyhound.

Then a servant picked up the bed. He cried out and they saw the baby. The
baby alive, happy and safe [unfortunate double meaning in Klingon here].
Everyone was amazed. They searched in the tent. They found the body of a
wolf behind the bed.

Then Llewellyn realised that Gelert had saved his son from the wolf. The
knowledge caused him anguish.

Llewellyn had revenge for Gelert. He killed every wolf in Gwynedd. Today
there is none left. And he commanded the building of a great grave for
Gelert. It resembled a hillock. Now there is a town there. Its name is
“Town of the Grave of Gelert” (Beddgelert).

P.S. (what one writes when one has written) No, it isn’t true. But they
believe it in Beddgelert.
