Many canon examples contradict you.

Skybox SP1 is analogous to "The Planet Earth":

  juHqo' Qo'noSvo' loghDaq lengtaHvIS tlhInganpu'...
  "...from their homeworld of Qo'noS..."

Skybox S15 follows the same pattern:

  ...QongmeH qItI'nga' Duj tI'ang...
  "...a sleeper ship of [the K'Tinga] class, the T'Ong..."

And S26, which is the prototypical example of apposition:

  ... DuraS be'nI'pu' lurSa' be'etor je.
  "The sisters of Duras, Lursa and B'Etor ..."

The name comes after the description.
