Here's my best description:
Take "uh-oh"/ To pronounce the second " ' " in /'e'/, say "uh-oh"
without the "oh". You get a somewhat interupted word, "uh-". Now to say
the first " ' ". Hold your breath, then suddenly let it out with a
grunt, as if you were hit in the stomach. you get the last half of
uh-oh: "-oh". So to correctly pronounce /'e'/, you must let out air
fairly forcefully, as in "-oh", then quickly and abruptly stop the air,
as in "uh-". Basically, it is "-e-".
