As a matter of style, I find {ghaj} to be one of the most overused
verbs in the Klingon language. I usually prefer to find a more
descriptive and "active" replacement. When there is another verb
acting adjectivally in the sentence, I think it is often more
straightforward to make it the main verb instead. For example:
Qatlh "octopus" yab, 'ach pIp Hutlh "octopus".
tIq chorgh DeSDu'Daj.
For beginning/learning sentences, {ghaj} is probably perfectly
appropriate. I don't complain about style when reading English
primers' simple and repetitive sentences, and I shouldn't do it for
Klingon either.
