taD:
: This is fine. Just note that the Klingon sentence literally means "Do
: you/Are you going to read the manuscript that I have written?"
... which is exactly what Okrand wrote in TKD's appended List of Useful
Expressions:
ghItlh vIghItlhta'bogh DalaD'a'
Will you read my manuscript?
I've often wondered why Okrand didn't just say {ghItlhwIj DalaD'a'}. The
longer version does stress the fact that he had finished writing the manuscript
- say, the manuscript for _The Klingon Dictionary_? Does anyone know whether
writing TKD took him longer than anticipated? (Another allusion to the writing
of TKD is surely Okrand's inclusion of {ngav} "writer's cramp" and {mavjop}
"paper clip" in the glossary - words which aren't exactly in everyday use among
Klingon warriors!)
