Re: Klingon WOTD: raQpo' (n)
: Klingon word: raQpo'
: Part of Speech: noun
: Definition: passenger
Not attested in canon.
Related nouns include *{ghIQwI'} "tourist" and {lengwI'}, which usually means
"rover" (i.e. the grammatical term) but can also mean "traveller, wanderer" - I
use it to translate Star Trek: Voyager {Hov leng: lengwI'}.
Aside from general verbs of motion, some useful verbs include {leng} "roam,
travel, rove":
'Iw bIQtIqDaq bIlengjaj!
May you travel the river of blood! PK
{ghIQ} "vacation, take a vacation":
Qo'noSDaq bIghIQ'a'?
Are you vacationing on Kronos? CK
{lup} "transport" (i.e. by vehicle) and {lIgh} "ride":
lupwI' DalIghnIS.
You must ride the jitney. CK
As to derivation... Okrand gave us the verb {raQ} "manipulate by hand, handle"
in KGT. Is this his wry comment on how he as a airline passenger feels when he
travels: i.e. like a piece of baggage?
