Appearing on the viewscreen, the alien-of-the-week winces visibly,
then glances to his side and grunts. The translator renders it as "Do
not speak."
Riker frowns and looks at Worf, "Was that Klingon?"
Worf: Yes.
Wesley: Why would <alien-of-the-week> be speaking *Klingon*? I
thought they hated Klingons.
Troi: I sense the AOTW commander feels great hostility towards Worf.
Data: The AOTW homeworld was conquered by Klingons in 2209, and
remained a possession of the Klingon Empire, subject to its
educational system, until stardate 2398.4, when, after 39.7 standard
days of negotiation the Klingons agreed to the provisions of a
document known as ...
Worf: (looking slightly displeased as he interrupts Data'a babbling)
... the Treaty of Gher'bok.
Wesley: You mean they had to go to school in Klingon? That would be
awful to be forced to learn another language in order to live on your
own planet!
Picard: (to Wesley) C'est la verite'. (to AOTW commander) I am Captain
Jean-Luc Picard of the Federation Starship Enterprise. Do you require
assistance?
AOTW: (looking shifty) Yes. We have experienced a warp drive failure.
My ... wife and I are alone on the vessel. We need ... pure
regrazulated tachyons to ... repair our craft. Can you help us?
Picard: Stand by. (pauses viewscreen)
Troi, Wesley, Dr. Crusher, Picard, Data and Worf: (simultaneously) He
is obviously lying.
Riker: (cluelessly) How do you know?
Troi: I sense deliberate deception.
Wesley: Sensor readings show twenty-seven beings on board.
Dr. Crusher: His physiology indicates stress due to lying. Plus you
can see three men with disruptor rifles reflected in the side of his
helmet.
Data: That class of ship can not fly in that configuration without a
crew of seven.
Worf: When he spoke Klingon he used the form <pejatlhQo'> to address
more than one person.
Picard: He's just a really bad liar.
