New Klingon Textbook

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but despite what David Barron reported from
John Ordover, don't get your hopes up about a Klingon text book any time
soon.

After reading David's post I got on the phone to Marc Okrand to ask him
about it (and to tell him about the other things going on, like the Marvel
comic book in Klingon). He claims he's not working on a text book.

Now this could just be a case of him not being at liberty to discuss it
(and I asked him if that might be the case too, but still "no"), but even
if he were, he wouldn't be working with John Ordover on it. John is the
STAR TREK *FICTION* editor at Pocket Books. Marc's projects in the past
have been through Margaret Clark, the editor for nonfiction works.

Further evidence to suggest that there is not currently a textbook in the
works comes from my discussing the possibility of it with Scott Shannon
(Pocket Books' Star Trek Director) at Philcon.

Next time I talk to John I'll try to get more information from him.
Obviously there's some miscommunication going on, and the rumors are flying.
