Sad to say I have not been able to read (let alone post) to this list lately. I have been kept busy since since returning from the Camp Dover Peace Conference last month what with the end of the academic year, a change of careers, and other fun things. I cannot say enough good things about Dover. This was a truly enjoyable fan-run convention, and I had the great good fortune to be their guest of honor this year. I got to visit with several KLI members including Bill Willmerdinger (whom some may recall from last qep'a'), Kevin Geiselman (whom I spent time badgering to attend to the upcoming qep'a'), Earnest Wymer (who generously volunteered to sit at a KLI merchandise table and sell copies of HAMLET and THE GRAMMARIAN'S DESK), and quite a few others. It was a very relaxed event, with little formal programming. For most people I suspect it was more of an annual reunion, but both of my talks were reasonably attended, and almost everyone stayed for the duration of the first one (which for reasons that still elude me was scheduled for two and a half hours!) As guest of honor I of course felt obligated to attend all of the room parties (it's a dirty job but... well, you know), and my highest compliments go to the fine folks at the Laughing Targ Tavern, both for their good cheer and their creativity in mixing up some truly alien (and very potent!) beverages. The midnight run to a local donut shop is apparently something of a tradition (Maltz at Midnight), and I must say that seeing a convoy of carpooling Klingons certainly warms the blood. I averaged about three hours of sleep a night for the weekend, and hope to be invited back again. If you're in Ohio and enjoy rubbing elbows and smacking foreheads with Klingons then you ought to head to Dover next Spring. Isn't it "ro'qegh'Iwchab" not "ro'qegh 'Iwchab"?
