Ah, being expensive doesn't necessarily have a bad connotation.  In 
this case, it seems to be considered a sign of quality.

And I thought I had put the "finishing touches" on my printed pocket
dictionary yesterday afternoon.  I'm definitely going to have to give 
up the fantasy of ever having a neatly-printed up-to-date word list!
