In all likelihood, those who cannot unsubscribe have changed
their Email addresses after subscribing and forwarded from the
old address to the new one, so when you send a message
requesting to unsubscribe, it says you are not subscribed
because the address you are sending from is indeed not
subscribed.
So, try to log in to your old Email just long enough to
unsubscribe, or send a message to Jay and be patient until he
manually looks you up and unsubscribes you, if he can do that.
Figuring out which address to unsubscribe if you have changed
addresses is not especially trivial. Perhaps he can figure it
out from your header?
