This may be a very accurate summary of the situation.  It's frustrating when one
is a novice, or even an advanced beginner *not* to perceive the postings of more
experienced members (no matter how well intentioned) as elitist, or mocking, or 
derisive.

It's even more explosive when the "learners" are competent adults in their own 
right, long unused to being "treated like students."  As an educator the 
toughest classes I've had to teach have been those which included teachers.

All of which demands greater levels of tolerance (there's that word again) from 
both sides.  Sigh.  C'mon folks, we're all here for the same reason.
