Quoting Brian Murphy --
"I'm not sure that I would agree that Kligons would use their own blood to write
with. It is feasable that some type of blood may have been used as ink,
probably in the earlier stages of Klingon history. If this were the case, I
would guess that animal blood would be used rather than Klingon blood."
If, as many suggest, the pipius [sp.] claw was used as a stylus then might not
the blood of the creature also have been used? Pulling off the claw for use as
a pen then also creates a supply of "ink". [Of course, we're making these
pipius creatures as plentiful as Rats & Roaches.]
"While Klingons certainly demonstrate propensity to spill blood (their own as
well as that of others), the blood of a Klingon figures much too prominently in
their belief system to be used for trivial matters."
Not to mention that writing something would give all subsequent recipients of
the note a sample of your blood. A toxin specific to your own body chemistry
could, no doubt, be prepared for you from this sample. Talk about a poison pen!
[There have been examples in NextGen of assassins and weapons keyed to only one
family.]
