When the producers of Star Trek III needed large chunks of dialog spoken
in Klingon, linguist Marc Okrand was hired to create a full fledged
language,
with a vocabulary and syntax. Now the Klingon Language Institute boasts
over
1,000 members, and roughly a dozen members are fully fluent in the language
Stop by Wired Arena on Tuesday, 13 August at 3 p.m. PDT to chat with Okrand
and learn about creating an artificial language that becomes a cult hit.
