Go ahead, ghunchu'wI'. Get me started on THIS argument on THIS list (BTW, I
also am on DEAF-L). I know lot's of deaf people who "speak" ASL. One does
not need to vocalize a language in order to "speak". The only difference is
the MODE of communication. One is "speaking" with hands, the other is
"speaking" with voice. Some deaf also "speak" with a voice.
And as a "point of order", Signed English is not a language, it is a
glossing of English in a manual mode. Kinda like using Klingon letters to
print English text.
